Formed within the borders of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur-based band Alien Lipstick Fire explores the depths of the Modern Indie Rock genre. Drawing influences and inspiration from bands like Bombay Bicycle Club, Tame Impala, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Alien Lipstick Fire primarily makes music with elements found in their favourite bands, whilst sonically accomplishing their own sound. Their creative process revolves around making good music with melodic hooks and vocals that are engaging and pleasant to the ears.
Alien Lipstick Fire consists of Sabahan lads James Sharkey (lead vocals & guitars), Malcolm Bagiu (guitar & vocals), Benjamin Sinidol (bass), and Hazim Aziz (drums) who hails from Kuala Lumpur. The band has released two EPs in the span of 2 years with their debut EP titled ‘Different Days’ which came out on July 2019 and shortly followed by ‘The Late Hours’ EP in July of 2020 which has garnered them over 710,000 streams on all platforms. They are set to release their debut full-length album in July 2021 following multiple single releases with ‘Phasing In’ being the first.
Having formed in 2015, Alien Lipstick Fire started playing indie shows at various locations around Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur and notably opened for boy pablo at Urbanscapes 2018.
