Kelvyn Yeang picked up his first guitar when he was 15 and never looked back. Frontman for Ocean of Fire, Yeang has been writing, recording, and playing live music for more than 15 years, his talent taking him across the country, and as far as South Korea. His style has evolved over the years, ranging from rock to progressive with hints of jazz improvisation. He is actively involved in the music scene, often supporting the Penang Island Jazz Festival and has played the Jarasum Jazz Festival in South Korea. He was voted Best Guitarist in the 2006 Asian Beat competition.Yeang also teaches guitar and has organized workshops across Malaysia. He has produced two albums with Ocean of Fire thus far and is hard at work on his first solo record as well as the third Ocean of Fire album. An advocate of songwriting, Yeang, along with other like-minded individuals formed INDIEPG in partnership with Penangpac to provide a platform for budding songwriters in Penang. Currently, Yeang is focused on educating the masses on the relevance of local music through various workshops, sharing sessions, and performances.
