BLISTER, a band of 5 individuals tied by blood and the love of music, came together to form a band that would go on a mission to discover ways to evolve the one music that they held close to their hearts, Rock n’ Roll. BLISTER is from the Portuguese Settlement of Malacca, a village in Malaysia, where the Cristangs, an ethnic group with mixed Portuguese and locals, reside. This came from the Portuguese South East Asian colonial administration period during the 16th to 17th century. Consisting of Ramon Singho, Mario Singho, Julio Singho, Darian Henry and Zachary De Costa, BLISTER started off by paying tributes to their idols when playing the pubs and clubs around the Kuala Lumpur music circuit and eventually led to discovering and writing their own music. “When everybody else who were at our age during that time were doing stuff that was current at that moment, we went the complete opposite direction and were playing blues and rock n’ roll covers. Stuff from Elvis Presley, B.B. King, Howlin Wolf, Chuck Berry, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, ACDC and eventually going on to The Sex Pistols, The Ramones, Guns N’ Roses, Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Korn, Rage Against the machine and the list goes on and on. We played everything. And while going on this Rock n’ Roll journey, which started from the beginning of how Rock n’ Roll came about to what it is now, it taught us a lot. It showed us a lineage of how all these bands that we loved and idolized evolved under the same umbrella. Hence, when we started writing our own stuff and discovering our own ways to evolve Rock music, we just basically took what we love about all of them, put it in a blender, dropped a couple of ice cubes in there, added some Gin, and that’s what we got.” BLISTER cites one of their highest achievements thus far was being able to perform as the opening act, twice, for Slash, lead guitarist of Guns n’ Roses, concerts in Malaysia in 2010 and again in 2015. Achieving all these before even releasing an official single or album.BLISTER sets out a task of doing one thing that they believe is essential in Rock music, which is, in their own words, “Putting balls back into Rock.” The official release of BLISTER’s first single, Commander, was released on 1st April 2017.
